About Julie Legg
For decades, I’ve been a passionate do-er of many things. You might be here because you searched for the author of The Missing Piece: A Woman’s Guide to Understanding, Diagnosing and Living with ADHD — in which case, yay and welcome.
As you’ll know from the book, I’ve done, and continue to do, many things. You could say I’m a collector of passions. And I quite like it that way. Some are neatly connected. Others seem wonderfully random. AUTHOR • MUSICIAN • ACTOR • VOICE ARTIST • HOMESTEADER and ADVOCATE - this website is home to the whole of me.
I grew up in remote and rural communities for much of my childhood – including several years on Kawau Island in the Hauraki Gulf, without electricity to boot. My free-range childhood suited me well. I’d lived in twenty-three different houses by the age of 30, then stopped counting.
THE MISSING PIECE:
A Woman's Guide to Understanding, Diagnosing and Living with ADHD
by Julie Legg (HarperCollins, 2024
THE MISSING PIECE was written specifically to help both undiagnosed and newly diagnosed women with ADHD understand they are not alone. The book has been described as a 'safe space' for female readers who feel their own experiences are validated and shared. It lifts the lid on how ADHD traits can manifest in our daily lives, which at times can be difficult to explain to non-ADHD friends, work colleagues and family.
Simply Life Changing
For anyone who has or suspects they might have ADHD, or for those who simply want to understand their loved ones better who have the condition, this book is a must! It is a validating comfort. Within its pages are honest first hand accounts from those with the condition, highlighting everyday struggles, with lots of laughs to be had in between, while providing an objective view of diagnosis vs no diagnosis, medication vs no medication. I felt understood and validated for struggles I have dealt with as long as I can remember.

WISER — A Letter to Our Younger Selves
We’ve just released the music video for WISER from our Unmasked album (2024). This track is a letter to our younger selves – a reflection and ultimately, a kind of peace offering. Not to the world, but to ourselves. For those of us with late-diagnosed ADHD, it’s common to revisit the past with new eyes....Continue reading
June Wrap-Up
June has been a re-defining kind of a month. For decades, I’ve been a passionate do-er of many things. I’ve done, and continue to do, a great many things. Behind the Scenes of UNDERGROUND
There’s something about the underground that calls to the misfits, the outsiders, the ones who don’t quite fit in. Our music video, UNDERGROUND from our HUMAN+ album, is an ode to those people and places…gritty and raw. Like all of our video projects, UNDERGROUND was a full-on, hands-on production. No outside crew. No stylists. No...Continue reading
