I've been involved in music since I was a kid in some way or form. From playing drums in a youth group band, to teaching myself enough guitar chords to write a tune or two, it wasn't long before I was singing lead in a cover band at 18.  That led to a string of live bands (both lead and harmony work) which became part of my world for many years (decades, really).

Fast forward to 2013, Jel (my husband) and I have been co-writing, recording and releasing original albums prolifically under the name OLDER. We figured we weren't spring chickens, nor were we ready to hang up our hats, and as every year ticked by we'd still be 'older' than yesterday.

As OLDER, we have a passion for producing biting social commentary that takes a hard swipe at modern life. We consider it music that is laden with antipathy for mainstream culture, is seasoned with an alternative point of view, and wrapped up in a layer of respectability. We champion the creative thinker and the under dog yapping in the wind. As for the genre? Alternative Rock – ultimately hard to categorise, our sound is influenced by 70’s Rock, 80’s New Wave, 90’s Britpop and some current Indie / Alternative Rock.

Being driven by a love for high-energy alternative rock music, our productions can be both simple and cinematic while our lyrics question everything and assume nothing.

RELEASED 1 AUGUST!

The 12 tracks on SELFIE are a collection of songs written over 30 years that didn’t quite fit our first 3 albums but found a fitting home on this release as a coherent body of work.

Lyrics are thoughtful, often uplifting and positive, even at times anthemic, simply celebrating being alive. Equally they are observational, often casting a wry smile at life and its varied situations and characters.

UNMASKED (2024)
Lyrically all 12 songs are inspired by OLDER's world-view living and thriving with adult ADHD, though the songs, like much art with more then one meaning, are equally relatable to everyone. While ALL of our song have been written with undiagnosed ADHD prior to this moment, this album marks a new-found understanding and acceptance of a recent diagnosis.

HUMAN+ (2021)
The songs on ‘HUMAN+’ are grounded in the notion of freedom - a theme at the heart of most of OLDER's writing - in particular individual freedom from the current environment of smothering collectivism.

HUMAN+ is a wonderfully creative album offering a different perspective on the world we currently live in. It is well crafted and captured my interest from the very beginning...and they have managed to combine multiple genres on this album which is fresh and interesting whilst still delivering a nostalgic sound. SILENCE (2019)
