2024 – It’s a Wrap

Over the past few months, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with incredible individuals and exploring the many layers of life with ADHD through my podcast, ADHDifference, and beyond. From life-changing news to inspiring conversations, here’s a glimpse of what we’ve been up to.

The Power of Connection

One of the most rewarding aspects of my journey has been meeting extraordinary people who inspire, educate, and advocate for change. Guests like Dr. Sara Thompson, whose work in academia and theatre champions courage and self-expression, and Angela Raspass, a self-leadership coach, have shared their personal ADHD journeys and strategies for navigating life’s challenges. These conversations are a testament to the strength and resilience of the ADHD community, and they continue to leave me buzzing with ideas and motivation.

Shaping the Future of ADHD Treatment

This year brought monumental progress for ADHD treatment in New Zealand. Starting December 1, 2024, Pharmac will fund lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse), a next-generation stimulant, while the two-year renewal requirement for ADHD medication will be removed. Speaking with Darrin Bull from ADHD New Zealand, I learned how this success stems from years of advocacy, with over 300 meetings since 2018 paving the way. It’s a moment worth celebrating and a reminder of what’s possible when we come together for change.

From Paralysis to Progress

ADHD paralysis is something many of us know all too well—the overwhelming stuckness that often gets mislabeled as laziness. I tackled this topic with ADHD coach Caroline Beresford, who shared practical strategies for breaking free from paralysis and insights into the triggers, like perfectionism and fear. It was a powerful reminder that with compassion and the right tools, we can reframe how we view these challenges.

Exploring Neurodivergence in Therapy

Romy Graichen from Therapy Advances joined me to discuss her work as a neurodivergent therapist reshaping how therapy supports ADHD, autism, and more. From her personal experiences navigating multiple diagnoses to training therapists to create affirming spaces, Romy’s story is a blueprint for inclusive mental health care.

On a Personal Note

Outside the podcast, my creative pursuits have been bubbling away. I’ve been working on a new book. While writing has its ups and downs (what creative project doesn’t?), I’m determined to make real progress and have something tangible to share in 2025. It’s both a goal and a labour of love, and I can’t wait to see where it leads.

This journey has been full of growth, connection, and discovery. Whether through the podcast, my writing, or ongoing advocacy, my goal is to create a space where we can all feel seen, heard, and supported. Here’s to continuing the conversation and building a brighter, more inclusive future together.

Let’s keep learning, sharing, and growing—one story at a time. 🌟
