It doesn’t happen every day, and certainly not every week, but I’m delighted to have made New Zealand’s Top 10 author bestsellers (non fiction) for The Missing Piece!
The results were announced on 8 March (which I believe is based on data from from Sunday through Saturday the previous week).
The Nielsen BookScan New Zealand bestseller list is created each week. It’s a complex process! Their monitoring system collects retail book sales from tills and other ‘point of sale’ systems from selected major book chains or key independent booksellers who participate in the programme. So, while not comprehensive, as it doesn’t capture data from every book sold nationwide (and there are plenty of independent bookshops throughout New Zealand, plus major retailers who don’t partake), it does give an indication of sales based on fiction, non-fiction and children’s books.
The Missing Piece made it to #8! I’m very excited as it is a solid indicator, in my eyes, that the subject of adult ADHD diagnosis of women is a popular topic – a barometer for how we are keen to further our understanding of mental health and well being for ourselves and our loved ones.
Regardless of whether it hits the Top #10 again (fingers crossed, of course) I’m feeling very proud. To have the opportunity to share my experience, along with the thirty+ other women also diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood, to help others understand what it’s like to live with the disorder, I am buzzing.
